Sometimes you just gotta keep things light.
Here are 5 of my my favorite dishes to grab around D-town for a calorie-conscious mid-day meal.
1. Shredded Brussel Sprout Salad + Homemade Sweet Potato Fries from Doc B's Restaurant

Doc B's makes their food from scratch and YOU CAN TELL! The Shredded Brussels Sprouts Salad is absolutely delicious and comes topped with Basil Vinaigrette, Marcona Almonds, a bit of Kale & Parmigiano Reggiano cheese.
Their Sweet Potato Fries come with a side of Dijon Honey that was so good- I asked for an extra side to go!
2. The Fried "Rice" Bowl from HG SPLY Co

HG SPLY Co is truly one of my favorite restaurants in Dallas. The food is consistently delicious, their rooftop patio has a great view of Lower Greenville and Downtown Dallas, and their cocktails (when you're not eating light) are absolutely refreshing.
This Fried "Rice" Bowl is actually Cauliflower Fried Rice with Broccoli, Napa Cabbage, Shredded Carrots, Edamame & Green Onions sautéed in Tamari & Sesame, topped with Honey-Garlic Brussels Sprouts & a Sunny Side TX Pachi Pachi Farms Egg.
(Sometimes I just pop in for a Strawberry Smash gin cocktail and a side of their kicka$$ Brussel Sprouts. You can't beat them.)
3. The Inside Out Quinoa Burger + Cucumber Salad from True Food Kitchen

True Food understands that sometimes the only way to convince people (me) to eat quinoa is to disguise it as a burger.
This gluten-free and vegetarian 'burger' comes slathered with hummus tzatziki, Organic Tomato, Butter Lettuce, Cucumber, Red Onion, Avocado, and Feta Cheese. Despite being almost completely veggie-based, it's really filling!
4. Spicy Korean Steak Bowl + Fresh Squeezed Juice from Original Chop Shop

#honestfoodreview I'm pretty careful about what I order from this place. Some bowls are flaaame while others are ehhh (cough cough Chili Shrimp).
The Spicy Korean Steak Bowl is one of the real good ones and it comes topped with green onion and sesame seeds. All of their bowls are made with Roasted Broccoli, Cauliflower, Onion, Carrot, and Mushroom. I like to put it all over brown rice, grab one of their cold fruit juices, and dig in 🍴
5. Grilled Halloumi Salad from The Henry

The Henry is a new restaurant to Uptown, Dallas. However, it has quickly made a name for itself with it's delicious, varied menu items, charming interior and outdoor patio, and attractive upstairs bar.
When I'm able to resist their Short Rib Potstickers, I enjoy the Grilled Halloumi Salad with Cauliflower, Cucumber, Sun Dried Tomato, Olive, Crispy Chickpea, Cashew Harissa Emulsion (no one actually knows what the hell that is), and Oregano Vinaigrette.
You'll be scraping the sides of the bowl afterwards, I promise.
