Where to Date // Dallas

You don't need to drop $200 at Al Biernat's to have a good date in Dallas.

Captivate your new Tinder boo or long time S.O. with fun & tasty date spots without breaking the bank. Here are a handful of my favorites:

This authentic Spanish restaurant and tapas bar offers an environment for a date night with some cultural flare.

Café Madrid introduced their traditional Spanish Tapas (small shareable plates) to Dallas 29 years ago. Their extensive wine list of 85 Spanish varieties is one of their claims to fame.

Walk in to find a pretty bar with a huge Iberian ham leg (meat is cut fresh off of it!), three semi-private rooms decorated with Spanish maps and history, and occasionally some beautiful live music from a contemporary Latin-jazz electric harpist in the front room. It's a genuinely romantic atmosphere.

Despite the cultural pizazz, this can be a very reasonably priced date if you pick a handful of tapas with your S.O. and share them OR you come in for happy hour Monday - Friday from 5pm - 7pm for even smaller bites.

Here are a few of my favorite tapas to share on the menu:

  • Queso manchego | Manchego cheese ($6)

  • Aceituans mixtas | Mixed olives ($5)

  • Chorizo San Martín | Chorizo in white wine and garlic sauce ($8)

CANVAS is an eclectic hotel outside of downtown Dallas on S Lamar St. Its rooftop bar has a beautiful infinity pool with a million-dollar view of the Dallas skyline featuring all of downtown, the Reunion Tower, Margaret Hunt Bridge, and sunset over the Trinity Bridge.

Gallery offers a short but sweet menu of specialty cocktails like their Tipsy Watercolor (Deep Eddy Lemon Vodka, Sage, Habanero Syrup, Blackberry Purée, Topo Chico, $12) alongside Bloody Mary and Mimosa Flights ($12 - $14) and small bites such as their chef designed Artisan Board ($16).

The hotel offers a FREE valet, and there is NO COVER to enter the bar on the top floor. Everyone 18+ is welcome until 9:00pm.

This little park in the middle of downtown Dallas is great for any type of date. Whether you're looking for a chill afternoon picnic in the park, a unique foodie adventure, or a fancy date night - it's the right spot.

A dirt walking path lined with various food trucks surrounds the park's Great Lawn and intimate stage. Food trucks are open from 11 am - 3 pm every day (and sometimes into the evening). Check out the Butcher's Son food truck and try some of their crazy sliders!

Your bae is too fancy for food trucks? No problem. Park at a meter or valet your car for $15 (to show off) and enjoy a meal at the park's beautiful gastropub, Savor. Their brunch is phenomenal and you get a great view of the park + downtown through the restaurant's big glass windows.

After you satisfy your craving, walk around the park to the free game cart, take a free exercise class on the grass when the weather is nice, catch a summer concert, or simply people watch from one of the little tables lining the Great Lawn.

You've heard me rave about them, and you'll hear me do it again...Pizzeria Testa is one of my absolute favorite Italian restaurants in Dallas!

I'm weary of the overly dim lighting and huge portions at most other Italian restaurants. I always leave feeling heavy and tired. Testa's freshly made personal Pizzas (around $14) from wood-fired ovens and refreshing cocktails always leave me feeling full, but not bloated (which is the worst on a date).

Sit inside for a comfortable, intimate atmosphere or enjoy the warm sun setting on Lower Greenville out on the patio. Their Happy Hour is a great way to kick off dinner with $6 glasses of Italian wine and $4 warm Focaccia Bread.

You also CAN'T go wrong with their appetizers; my personal favorite being the Hot Spianata Rosette rolls ($10, pictured). I guarantee they'll make your kisses extra spicy!

Buon Appetito! xoxo
